Higher Taxes

The Toronto Star which supports liberals like Kathleen Wynne and Trudeau and his masculinity is suggesting we raise taxes for the City services we want. Herès their logic or stupidity.

1. They like that the Mayor wants to build 21 acres of parkland in downtown Toronto. But a letter they got a hold of says he canèt afford it. So their proposal is RAISE TAXES. That' do it. It'l do it every time. They seem to think we can afford it every time. Or that it's worth it. The one way to afford the Transit system is to raise the fare. Not taxes.

2. The Star says we have revenue problem. Can they prove it? And their answer for it is to raise taxes for the City we want. Thus, you can see the Title: Time to pay for the city we want. And pay through the nose. Give your money to the Government because they can best manage it. Remember, liberal governments are what create Unions.

Thus, the Star employees at One Yonge Street are Unionized.

They step all over the little people like ourselves who canèt afford high prices, high taxes for City services and say well, deal with it. Unions come in to give us more money. So, letès look at high taxes. When it comes to taxes, we need to pay for them. My Lord during his ministry was required to pay a temple tax. He obeyed the laws of the land. But His Father provided for it. The 2 denarii were found in a fish in the sea. Ièm not sure where in the Bible that is found except itès in at least one of the 4 gospel books. Sometimes itès required. But not always. When Stephen Harper campaigned in 2006 for lower taxes, he said a Conservative Government would lower GST from 7% to 5% And he would know it can be done because of his degree in Economics. But the Star and itès experts, raise taxes to generate revenue. In their commentary they say:
In order to create a better, more livable city, Mayor John Tory and council must look at new means of generating revenue.

Or raise taxes, like as if we can afford it. I live in Mississauga now and one day I jumped on the bus to go somewhere and I discovered that the Transit system has the Presto card system. I asked the driver about it and he said the system is not fully operational. There was no real reason why but I discovered that the revenue from that Presto card goes straight to the governing body of the Ontario Government. Which is Metrolinx. The Mississauga Transit system is complaining because it`s putting this in their buses (They're probably paying to maintain it), but they're getting no revenue whatsoever from it. I think they have a point for it, and they are telling the Ontario Government to say we want some of that money to cover our expenses, or we'll rip everyone of these Presto machines out of our buses. The point is, Governments and The Mayor John Tory know how to raise revenue. I never thought that David Miller was good at that. I might agree that the housing market could support Public Transit. That's more for education. The Star mentions this in the middle of it's Commentary.
It also mentions a tax on alcohol and tobacco, a parking levy, entertainment tax or development charges, AMONG OTHERS!

Well I dare say the Star editorial board knows all about taxes. Let's talk about this. When we raise taxes, ask a question. How much do we use of those government services that justifies raising the amount of money for people to use them? Are higher taxes necessary? For Healthcare it's different. Maybe we will not need healthcare services but because we're such kind people we want to make sure that all our people are healthy.

I could truly say that I would ask for higher taxes so every Citizen can be brought back to health. I believe that.

I believe the same for Public Transit. Because people need to get to work everyday. But I believe in lower taxes for the average joe mo who goes to work everyday, pays taxes, earns an honest days work. The Star obviously doesn't go for that. It wants higher taxes. It says we can afford it. But it probably doesnèt know anything about the paypal revenue going to the Ontario Government directly not any for Mississauga Transit or itès people. Kathleen Wynne has to give some of that revenue back to the City.
The Star says about what Mayor John Tory told them. He said that Before we ask the people to pay more, it must show residents that is has done everything in itès power to trim that fat.

In it's next sentence the Star disputes that. It says to often it has a negative effect. That's wrong to think that. And itès dumnheadedness. If the Star Management had a revenue problem or was bought out by another Media Outlet, wouldn't you be making sure you'd saved everything you could to avoid layoffs.
The Mayor is acting correctly by making sure he and City Council have done everything it can to save money before raising taxes or raising fares for TTC, which is essential. Who are they to say Cut services (which in this case is cut bus routes, or fewer buses), The Star argues that weère stuck in traffic, overheated subways and that our downtown core is is getting more dense with buildings, infrastructure etc. It says that funds that are promised from the federal and provincial governments are not enough, But my opinion is how would they know Again, they donèt know about the Presto card and the revenue being given to the Province because of it, and not being shared with the City of Mississauga. We should think that governments, Federal and Provincial can afford it. But hereès one thing. Stephen Harper and the Conservatives allowed that we could save by using our weekly and monthly passes for income tax. We saved over $300.00 a year in Transit which was outstanding. I loved that Tax saving. Also, Canadians saved on the Child Care benefit for their kids up to the age of six years old. Thatès when they start school. Also, A working Contractor could save on his tools. And we all saved on the GST. I think Justin Trudeau and the liberals will eventually raise the Tax.
In conclusion, The Star and itès Editorial Board are not smart by saying first, that this City has a revenue problem, I think Mayor John Tory and City Council are able to find ways to raise revenue without raising taxes. So who are they to talk that raising taxes are the answer.
Second, The Mayor is acting in an appropriate manner by checking to make sure this government has done everything it can to save. I mean who wouldn't. And if the Star doesnèt think so maybe it can do something like raise itès own taxes by raising the price of itès newspaper to raise revenue. See how many readers scramble to the Globe, and National Post. Ièm sure you know itès bad business.
Third, I donèt spend my time downtown, I work at the Airport. Ièd be willing to say that the new subways are not overheated. Theyère crowded but not overheated. These are better subways also. I donèt worry about downtown getting overcrowded. I think it is justifiable that the price of TTC is going up. And as I drive, I donèt often get stuck in traffic. Before this I lived in Scarborough for six years. The last sentence in the Star Comment reads this,

Sooner or later, we simply have to dig a little deeper and pay for it.

For example, letès raise taxes again. Hah. Maybe you can.
