liberal record on Defense Spending

The liberal record on defense spending is awful. A liberal Government will NOT commit to it's soldiers or it's equipment to supply and defend even our borders. The excuses are many and have been used for years and decades. Since the days of Pierre Trudeau. Who wanted out of NATO so we don't have to spend money on NATO missions. He didn't want too, Canadians didn't want to, but that didn't stop Trudeau and other PM's from cutting back on defense spending. Example: The most recent, Jean Chretien commits 1,000 troops (Light Infantry Patricia's) to Afghanistan. But cutbacks to Defense couldn't deploy the troops and equipment there. Chretien's excuse, well, most Countries these days (this is in 2001), don't do deployment and call on other people and other countries to do it for them. But you know what JC? they are smaller land mass Countries. Ours is huge. We can't even do deployment within our own Country. Hello. Other facts: The day the liberals won, Chretien won in 1993, He cancelled the EH-101 Helicopter program, it cost 500 million just to cancel, which just proves 2 things. First, they will spend millions just to protect what they believe, and second, they never believed in defense spending and under the incoming Prime Minister Jean Chretien, it would stay that way. I think it will stay that way under these current liberals and under Justin Trudeau. The Opposition and the media are criticizing Conservatives for the way our veterans are being treated. But let's not make any mistakes. Liberals during the 1990's were just as guilty. And the Conservatives criticized the governing liberals for the same. Because it was just as bad. Or worse. Not enough Defense spending. Just programs, services, parks, higher taxes and cutbacks to things like defense. It wasn't until 2001 when an awful incident in New York and Washington that Canada realized we had to spend more on defense and support the Veterans who served our Country, that we had to spend more. But our liberal gov't. cutback on it. Here's what we need to remember. It takes a lot longer to build something then to take it apart. That's important to remember. It's better to have something like a piece of equipment like a helicopter (example: EH-101) then to not have it. It makes no sense for a Tory Government to buy, purchase which the Helicopter was under Brian Mulroney, and then watch the incoming PM scrap the plan for 500 million dollars and say we don't want them. This is a record of failure. And now today, liberal leader Justin Trudeau has "Promised" to help veterans. Justin says additional funding for veterans will cost and extra $300 million. He has criticized Harper for his record on supporting Veterans. ha,ha,ha. Who is he trying to kid? Not me. Let's not make any mistakes on liberal defense spending. It is pathetic. Does anyone actually expect Justin to actually raise taxes to gain an extra $300 million and actually put it towards our veterans? No. I wouldn't believe it. Not now, not tomorrow. There is no real way of putting it, except either yes or no. The liberal record on Defense spending and support for veterans is awful. It has been since Pierre Trudeau was PM. That's enough. We should probably criticize the liberals for their scandals. The Sponsorship Scandal. We should not let them back into Power for at least this time, until they are at least sorry for their misuse of public money. I think 10 years is a long time to be out of Power. 10 years on the Opposition benches.
